OBJECT STUDY

I did an object study on a highlighter pen used to highlight text. in the object study I studied about its form, origin, history and evolution, ergonomics, ease of use, change in the form and material of the highlighter pen and also the utility and usability of the pen.
this was for the brief and my expected deliverables were as follows:
1. one redesigned idea (concept sheet)
2. one redefined idea (concept sheet)

my own definition of a highlighter pen is :
A highlighter is a handy object used to mark important text in books
notebooks and other texts.

FORM STUDY :
I measured the dimensions of the highlighter pen and then put its scale down and made flat drawings of the pen and tried to cover each part of the body, from the cap to its body, to chisel tip, and its bottom.

ERGONOMICS :
It means the research of the way humans use a thing and the correct hand placement while using the highlighter pen, from opening the cap, using the pen, closing the cap, and keeping it.

HISTORY, EVOLUTION AND ORIGIN OF THE HIGHLIGHTER PEN :

NEED OF A HIGHLIGHTER :
Then I studied the need of highlighter pen and which group of people need and use ti the most for working and also I researched on many other coverable topics like the changes which can be made to the product - its body, ink, use, so that I could think for my redesign and redefine ideas for highlighter pen. the research was done by the survey method this time, so I surveyed my college mates for this. but before that I made a mind map for the need of a highlighter.

ANALYSIS AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS OR INSIGHTS BASED ON ACTUAL DATA :
based on actual data about highlighters I made insights by first analysing the data on the product level like just on the highlighter pen and the critical analysis which was on the universal level like for all the products.

SURVEY RESPONSE ANALYSIS :
Then I did the survey for my object and constituted the information collected in a systematic manner for idea generation.

CONCEPT SHEETS :

1. REDESIGNED IDEA -

2. REDEFINED IDEA -
